Meet the Scott's

Linwood “Sonny” Scott, Jr.

I was born some ½ mile away from our current farm so I’m North Carolinian born and bred.

As well as my work on the farm I’ve also been on the board of the North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission for the last 12 years.

I’m a big baseball fan and I try to get down to the Five County Stadium and catch my team the Carolina Mudcats whenever I can.

I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Alice for over 40 years and we live in Lucama with our beloved Labrador and Chow cross Abby.

My two sons Dewey and Linwood III work with me on the farm and I also have five beautiful grandchildren of whom I’m very proud.

Chip Tip: I like my sweet potato chips with a sweet potato hummus dip.

It’s lucky I was a fan of sweet potatoes even before I married into a sweet potato mad family!

Dewey and I have two sons, D J and Charlie, who are both into their sports. I like to make sure they eat healthily so of course we always have sweet potatoes in some form at the dinner table

I’m very proud to be a North Carolinian; we have some of the nations most outstanding natural beauty spots including the outerbanks of North Carolina which are amongst the most beautiful beaches in the whole of the US.

Chip Tip: I enjoy eating sweet potato chips with a nice glass of white wine after putting the kids to bed.

D J Scott

Like my Grandpa, I’m a Mudcats fan and my favourite player is Jerrud Sabourin but at the weekends I also like to play soccer with my friends.

I go to Lucama Elementary School where my favourite subjects are Math and Phys Ed.

After school I like to go down to the farm and ride on the tractors with my Dad and Grandpa.

Chip Tip: I like sweet potato chips in my lunch box with carrots and apple.
